You know it's fall the minute the aroma of warm Avena travels through your home. Growing up "Avena caliente" as most Dominicans call it was a staple in our home. It was either a breakfast option with a toasted piece of bread or maybe just a late-night dinner option for those days in need of comfort.
Every household has its version of Avena caliente, Some leave their oats soaking in water overnight to reach a softer consistency others blend whole oats for a faster cooking process. No matter which way you decide to make it you will enjoy it. Here I have shared with you the way my mother did it for me and hope you can too enjoy it with your loved ones. Let's make Avena cliente.
